Patterson, and Peggy LaGrone. But who is Steve Findley?" So I'll put
it out there. Anybody want to answer?

  1. Steve Findley is a Member, Board of Directors, GOPUSA. Findley is president of Titan Dynamics Systems, Inc. (TDSI) in Marshall, Texas, according to his Allied Defense Group, Inc. bio. [1]

According to his now deleted GOPUSA bio, which is essentially the same as that of TDSI:

"Steve Findley is the founder and CEO of Titan Dynamics Systems, Inc. located in Marshall, Texas. TDSI is a corporation catering to the discovery and innovation of leading edge military technology. Mr. Findley's training products line includes four patented items which revolutionize Armed Forces' training scenarios by their cost effectiveness, increased safety and signature capability.

"Mr. Findley has been active in politics since 1984. He is past president to both the East Texas Baptist University College Republicans and the Marshall Young Republicans. He has also served as chaplain for the Texas Young Republican Federation.

"Since 1984, Mr. Findley has served as a delegate to numerous county and Republican Party of Texas state conventions. In 2000, he was elected to serve as the national delegate for Senate District #1 to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.

"Mr. Findley currently serves as a member of the Rules Committee for the State Republican Executive Committee and is active in the Harrison County Republican Party

From "Sourcewatch.org" just search for his name.
According to an article in the Longview News Journal (Oct 9) he is involved with the Upshur County Conservative Coalition, billed as an alternative Republican group even though he lives in Harrison County.
Other public record indicate he is a frequent contributor ($500 to $1,000) to Republican candidates. This would possibly infer that he is not a middle class person.
Facebook indicates he is on the SREC along with Brenda Patterson for Senate District 1.
    And from "uneedtoknow.tripod.com"

  3. I feel bad for Steve as his father died on 12/14 this year. However I did find this article online about the family owned company:

    Type: News

(07/23/03) On July 15 in U.S. District Court in Tyler, Robert T. Findley, Sr., owner of RTF Industries Inc., located near Marshall, Texas, was sentenced to spend a year and a day in prison for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. The defendant operated an electroplating facility and illegally dumped hazardous wastes including spent cyanide plating bath solutions and wastewater treatment sludges under a trailer located at a pyrotechnic facility which RTF Industries owned and operated next door to its plating facility. Cyanide wastes are highly toxic and can cause serious neurological injury and even death to individuals who come into contact with them. The case was investigated by the E.P.A. Criminal Investigation Division, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Tyler.

I don't know what the outcome was, but apparently this is some part of the business that Steve now owns. Manta lists Steve as the owner of Titan Dynamics Systems, an explosives manufacturer and plating/anodizing facility.

I sure hope their disposal techniques are are a little better than dumping their waste into the ground. I don't believe that ecological pollution is in the Conservative Party Platform.

  4. The EPA also has some document regarding the investigation and clean up starting here:

An Anonymous poster made a comment under the heading 'Commissioners Court" and said some unsavory and unsubstantiated comments about Mr. Findley. If some of their charges could be substantiated it would be interesting. However since the post is anonymous and there is no source material it is just vapid invective.
Hey I'll post this as anonymous, but I'll tell you it's Gus!
